Best Winter Pop-Ups in London 2018

Despite the glorious Indian summer, it’s about time we talked Christmas. But rather than get down about the drop in temperatures, why not embrace the multitude of awesome pop-ups the capital throws up this time of year? With so much going on, it can be hard to keep up. So to help you along the way, here’s some of the best winter pop-ups in London for 2018!

Lady Celeste’s Rooftop, Queen of Hoxton

Location: 1 Curtain Road, EC2A 3JX.

East London pub, Queen of Hoxton always puts on a show during the Christmas period. And this year they’re taking things back to 1900s surrealist Paris. Their cosy rooftop Wigwam has been transformed into a music hall with velvet drapes, cabaret tables and curious characters. Here you can sip on Hot Tarte Tatin Rum, warm up with Parisian spiked hot chocolate, or sample tipples from the sharing fountain of Absinthe. Food-wise, look no further than the Raclette. Rooftop Ice Rink, Skylight London

With the backdrop of The City skyline, Skylight London has look been one of the most picturesque rooftop venues in the capital. And this winter, Level 11 and 12 will be transformed into a winter-theme pop-up, complete with an ice rink, heated pergola and a viewing deck. Perfect for some urban après-ski, the Snug Bar on Level 9 provides a fully heated and enclosed area if things get too cold, while other seasonal treats include an ice-hockey shoot out, festive cocktails, mulled wine and delicious street food. Curl Runnings, Roof East

Bowling’s weird winter cousin will once again be the focus of festivities at Roof East this November and December with the return of Sliders Curling Club, featuring six neon lit, freshly marked curling lanes, alongside a line-up of DJs and themed cocktails. But for 2018, they’re doing something a little different at Roof East by turning the pop-up into ‘Curl Runnings’ in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the classic film ‘Cool Runnings’. The tropically inspired rooftop will give you warm thoughts thanks to Jamaican-inspired beverages, a boating seating area and a bobsleigh or two to create the perfect profile picture. Ski-Lodge, The Montague on the Gardens

The Montague on the Garden’s Ski Lodge is back for 2018. London’s original ski lodge and winter party venue will be transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with pine trees, falling snow, reindeer, snowmen, ski racks and piste maps. The centrally located bar will be serving up a range of winter warmers, including Schnapps and flavoured vodkas, while the Ski Lodge itself offers mulled wine, hot spiced cider and mugs of steaming hot chocolate. Alternatively head to the Log Cabin which boasts a decorative fire, Christmas tree and cosy armchairs and sofas complete with blankets. Open 14th November


Jimmy Winter Lodge, Southbank

Fresh from his BBQ Club in the summer, London pop-up king, Jimmy Garcia is back for the cooler months with his Winter Lodge. As always, there are various parts to the pop-up with the set-menu Refuge Restaurant overlooking the Thames on the Southbank, as well as The Hot Cocktail Bar and Street Food for passers-by. There’s also the option of an evening of private dining at the Private Igloos. Available for the evening for groups of up to 10 people, these heated domes will offer a unique way to experience dining on the Southbank with stunning views of the river, and an equally stunning menu. Winterland, Fulham Beach Club

Fulham’s first ever Thameside beach will be transformed into Fulham’s first ever ski resort this winter. Taking inspiration from the Alpine slopes of the 80s and 90s, Winterland will transport guests back in time to a festive winter playground with a karaoke booth, curling lanes, beer/prosecco pong and table tennis. Jimmy’s Lodge will be on hand to serve fondues and schnitzels, whilst mulled wine and winter warmer cocktails are served from the Moose bar. Open 8th November

Forget Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland, Clapham Common’s Winterville is the ultimate festive pop-up this winter. Featuring its biggest line-up of street food traders from Street Feast yet, Winterville also boats some of the capital’s finest pop-up entertainers with the likes of Plonk Golf, Backyard Cinema and the Spiegeltent all getting involved with crazy golf, film screening and cabaret performances, respectively. There’ll also be a fairground and an ice-skating rink to enjoy, as well as winter watering holes with Boozy Hot Chocolate, Hot Wine, Frozen Apple Pie Rum and more. What more could you possibly want?
