The New Century Global Centre has opened to the public at last in Chinas Sichuan province. The building is alleged to be the largest structure in the world measuring 1640 ft in length, 1312 ft in width and 328 ft in height, which equates to nearly 19 million sq ft of internal floor area, and a footprint of over 2 million sq ft.
To put that into perspective, that is roughly 5 football pitches end to end long, 4 pitches end to end wide, and one pitch in length tall. It took three years to construct, could fit Big Ben under its roof and has floor space which equates to two of London’s 02 Arena.
The New Century Global Centre is home to a water park with an artificial beach, a 14 screen cinema, a professional standard skate rink and considerable office space. It even includes an artificial sun that heats and lights the venue during the day, and a vast LED screen creates the effect of the horizon.
