It has been little over a month since the first instalment of trailers for the remake of Stephen King’s ‘IT’ hit our screens. Having racked up nearly 30 million views in the same amount of time, we’d suggest that the upcoming horror thriller is one that shows considerable promise. This is particularly impressive, given that the genre is one that requires a certain taste, in order for a satisfied viewing. That is not to say you need to be completely sick in the head to enjoy the second trailer.

You Knew It Was Coming: The Second ‘IT’ Trailer

Director Andy Muschietti’s adaptation of the 1986 novel looks to stay true to the original plot – a tale of seven friends who unite together in an attempt to ward off Pennywise, a killer clown who is the cause of a string of disappearances in the boy’s small town. The teaser is revealed to us in the form of a short snippet, in which the members of the young cast find themselves trawling through an abandoned sewer. We are given brief moments of dialogue from each character, including Richie Tozier, played by Stranger Things favourite Fin Wolfhard.

Humorous exchanges amongst the group are short lived, as the sickly laughter of Pennywise is echoed throughout the sewer, and he is eventually revealed to us in the eerie manner of becoming unhidden from behind a bunch of red balloons. The film also sees the introduction of Swedish-born Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise.

This second trailer reinforces the classic tension building approach of the first. Not to mention the new highly perverse depiction of Pennywise, making the 1990 TV mini-series version played by Tim Curry look like a slightly crazed Ronald McDonald.

‘Coulrophobia’ – A specific fear of clowns. If you are one of those unfortunate enough to suffer from this movie-hindering dread, then stay well clear. If not then crack on! ‘IT’ is set to arrive in cinemas on September 8th 2017. Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think!
