Take a Look at This Stunningly Restored Air Control Tower on Airbnb
Always on the lookout for some of the most interesting abodes on the planet, take a look at this stunning property available to rent on Airbnb. Formerly the base for the Fleet Air Arm, the HMS Owl Air Control Tower embraces its derelict shell and gives it the shabby-chic treatment in the Scottish Highlands.
Located in Tain, the HMS Owl Air Control Tower served as a unique outpost during WWII. The building, which is located on the original WWII airway, has undergone a full renovation over the last few years and is now a family home and Airbnb guesthouse.
Donning a matte-black exterior, the structure retained its original steel-framed Crittall windows, with exposed brick walls and a collection of antique and industrial fixtures complimenting the structure’s barebones history. The guesthouse is located on the top floor of the four-storey property and offers views of the surrounding Scottish Highlands.
Coming with 1 bed for two people, guests at the HMS Owl Air Control Tower have access to a large open-plan sitting room if requested in advance, which features a pool table and table football. There’s also a hot tub on site if you want to kick back and really relax under the stars.
A stay at the HMS Owl Air Control Tower costs £75 per night and is available to book now over at the Airbnb Website. Alternatively, you can also book out the restored Black Nissen which is also on site.
As we head into the colder months, the idea of cosying up at a remote retreat becomes all the more appealing. And things don’t get more remote than the Arctic Hideaway located on the island of Sørvær in Nordland county, Norway.
