Another example of LEGO definitely being for adults, LEGO is celebrating the 110th anniversary of Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium with its own 3,898-piece model, featuring everything from the Munich Clock to a statue of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Designed for ages 16 and above, and measuring in at 6.5” high by 18” long and 15” wide, the LEGO Creator Expert Old Trafford Stadium offers United fans the chance to build a 1:600 replica model of Old Trafford which features several evocative details including the players’ tunnel and the statue of the United Trinity.
The set is meticulously detailed, reimaging the home of Manchester United in LEGO brick form as close to the real ‘Theatre of Dreams’ as possible. Everything from the colour scheme to the pattern of the pitch, the sponsorship branding, seats, the Munich Clock and even a statue of Sir Alex Ferguson are featured.
“Our Old Trafford stadium is as iconic as Manchester United itself and we are proud to be able to bring it to life in LEGO form,” said Manchester United’s Director of Partnerships, Sean Jefferson. “I think everyone has played with LEGO bricks at some point in their life, however it’s still amazing to see the level of detail the LEGO designers have managed to recreate in this piece.”
The LEGO Creator Expert Old Trafford Stadium will retail for £249.99 and is available to LEGO VIPs on 16 January 2020 from LEGO stores and the LEGO Website. The LEGO Old Trafford set will go on general release on 1 February 2020.
In late 2019, LEGO paid tribute to the original wooden figure it first released in 1978. A 5:1 upscale version of the standard LEGO ‘minifig’, the LEGO Originals Wooden Minifigure was designed in partnership with Room Copenhagen and measures in at 7 inches tall.
