Selena Gomez for GQ
Having been in the limelight since her early teens, you’d be forgiven for not realising Selena Gomez is actually 23 years old now. And judging from her recent photoshoot with GQ magazine, she’s embracing adulthood with some serious sass!
Gomez first featured on the small screen back in the early 2000s when she appeared on Barney & Friends. But it wasn’t until 2007 before she came to prominence when she was cast as the lead character in the Disney Channel’s series Wizards of Waverly Place,
The past couple of years have seen Gomez break up with similarly high profile boyfriend Justin Bieber, take a quick trip to rehab and also score her first top five single with ‘Good for You’.
During her interview with GQ, Gomez says the reported rehab wasn’t what it first appeared to be; “I got diagnosed with lupus. My mom had a very public miscarriage… I needed time to just be okay.”
While talking to GQ, the most-followed person on Instagram (27 million!!) also discusses the role of social media, the expectations and footfalls of child stardom, and her future acting projects, which include working with none-other than Kevin Spacey.
Recently, the child star had a memorable cameo in the Oscar-nominated The Big Short, is due to star in the new Bad Neighbours 2 film alongside Rose Byrne and Seth Rogan, and is also in talks with Netflix about a new TV series.
