Whilst flicking through Kickstarter, we found the OYO NOVA Gym. It claims to be a full gym in your hands and in a world where many of us want to get fit at home, we thought it was worth a look.
The OYO NOVA Gym is the number 1 most-funded fitness product in Kickstarter history. It clearly struck a chord with many people around the world. This is no surprise given many of us haven’t had access to a gym for most of 2020.
The NOVA is a portable gym. It provides up to 18kgs of resistance in each hand and in all places of movement. It’s designed to replace your inefficient dumbbells with a more flexible system and enable you to work out more of your body than before.
The technology found in the NOVA is space-age. No, literally it was designed for NASA! Founder of OYO Fitness, Paul Francis, designed the first resistive exercise device for use in space. Called the NASA iRED, it used patented SpiraFlex technology. This basically allows you to snap on up to four discs (known as FlexPacks) which give 4.5kgs of resistance each. But the entire unit only weighs in at 1.1kg allowing maximum portability.
The idea, OYO says, is to be able to skip the travel to and from the gym, avoid the monthly fees but get the same results. The NOVA works on many parts of your body including: Back, chest, biceps, triceps, shoulders, lats, abs and much more. Infact you can do over 100 exercises with it.
Those 100 exercises are available to you via OYOfitness.com and on their YouTube channel. You can even download them for offline use from their Vimeo channel. If you want a more structured way of using the NOVA then OYO offers a range of programs for beginners all the way through to gym-junkies.
Personally I think this is just the sort of thing I need. I hate going to the gym and trying to find time in my day to travel somewhere to work out is rarely an option. Instead I try to do as much as I can at home and this seems as if it would really help.
