After being put on the top shelf for a long period of absence, an early 2000s icon returns next week in the form of the adidas Originals Climacool 1 trainer. Released back at the start of the millennium, the original Climacool paved the way for cooling technology in footwear. Now it’s back and bolder than ever.

The adidas Originals Climacool 1 was ahead of its time when it was first released. The enhanced ventilation, alongside its intricately formed structured midsole, set a trend, and it still looks as contemporary today as it did back in 2000.

While the upper on the Climacool made them incredibly-breathable, they also incorporated ventilation holes into the mid and outsole giving them a truly 360 degree flow of fresh air – perfect for the upcoming warmer months!

The latest iteration of the silhouette sees adidas Originals opting for a more tonal approach for spring, with colourway options of all-Black, White, Red and Green. Much like the original, the new Climacool sees a breathable mesh construction alongside the heavily ventilated upper, and of course the three stripes branding.

The trainers also feature TPU overlays at the toe and quarter-panels to provide the shoe with some added support. Additionally, a perforated sockliner has been fitted inside the Climacool for enhanced comfort.

The original Climacool was released with a bang and saw two classic adverts made which each illustrated the hopes adidas were putting hopes on the silhouette. They featured tennis goddess Anna Kournikova recreating Marilyn Monroe’s ‘flying skirt’ and David Beckham listening to ‘Peaches’ by the Stranglers in a convertible. Ooft.

The new adidas Originals Climacool 1 trainer is released next Saturday (2nd April) in tonal looks of Red, Green, White and Black, with prices around the £95 mark. Head over to the adidas Website for more details.
