adidas Originals have just released the latest new silhouette to their illustrious line-up. Taking cues from the NMD_R1 and Tennis Hu designs, the DEERUPT is a ‘disruptively simple’ silhouette with daring aesthetics and innovative features.

adidas Originals Release the 'Minimal' DEERUPT

The adidas Originals DEERUPT was initially previewed in August last year and it’s fair to say it divided the crowd. Well, it’s finally been released with the new lifestyle runner featuring a streamlined low-top silhouette that’s covered from ankle to midsole in a mesh net overlay.

Inspired by urban planning, architecture and natural phenomena, the DEERUPT prides itself on its geometric profile. The netted mesh was first seen on the brand’s 1979 Marathon – an update of which was released just last month – and was introduced to enhance compression and rebound within the midsole.

adidas say that the DEERUPT is proof that ‘minimalism can be bold,’ with the sampling process of the shoe almost reaching three figures with every detail meticulously considered, including how the shoe appeared on Instagram!

The result is a trainer which comes with an ultra-flexible mesh upper covered in a layer of stretch grid webbing. A web-wrapped EVA midsole echoes the geometric look, while signature Grid webbing also gives subtle compression. The DEERUPT also features foam pockets which are moulded into the sockliner for extra cushioning and security.

Interestingly, the shoe does away with the brand’s signature three-stripe detailing and instead opts for a suede heel tag and a medial heel patch. It’s certainly divisive and we’re not sure we’d call it ‘minimal’, but you know what? We quite like the DEERUPT. It pushes boundaries just enough without straying into challenging for challenging sake.

The adidas Original DEERUPT is now on sale over at the adidas Website for £79.95 a pair.

Last month, adidas Originals once again teamed up with Pharrell Williams for spring/summer collection which paid homage to the Holi Festival and the unity of colour.
