adidas Originals ZX Flux XENO

Details of the adidas Originals ZX Flux XENO have finally been announced after a successful launch in the States. We’ll be getting two colourways this weekend!
The ZX Flux XENO is inspired by the Xenopeltis snake from South East Asia, otherwise known as the Sunbeam Snake. Why? Because when light hits their scales, they change colour. And the same will happen with your ZX Flux XENOs!
The direct light-activated material utilised by adidas across the uppers of the trainer is pretty revolutionary stuff. The material is slightly shimmery in daylight, but it explodes into a rainbow in bright direct light. A bit like the colour you get when the sun hits petrol on water.
It’s being released in two daylight colourways, either Matt Black or Onix. Although we know that the XENOs are made from a multi-layered application, the technology involved has been kept quiet so far.
The adidas Originals creative team behind the ZX Flux XENO chose New York City as their inspiration for this colourway concoction – apparently using the energy, colour and lights of New York are captured in the rainbow-reflective colourway.
We’re not surprised they chose to use the Flux silhouette as their first series to don the XENO technology as it is one of their most popular and this is clearly some impressive technology. Naturally, with trainers that sparkle this much, the Flux XENO will split the crowd. But given how genuinely unique they are, we’re sure they’ll sell very well.
The adidas Originals ZX Flux XENO launches in the UK this Saturday 13th June from 8am on the Footasylum Wesbite. You can also win your own pair with us and FA by liking and following us on Instagram.
