adidas Spezial Set to Drop First SS19 Collection
Following on from its acid rave-inspired AW18 collection, adidas Spezial has toned things down for SS19. Focusing on the vibrant culture and style of London, the collection features key sneaker and clothing pieces that blend iconic adidas silhouettes with modern and timeless influences from the greatest city on earth.
The Spring/Summer 2019 Spezial collection sees adidas Originals partner up with long-time collaborator Robert “Brooksy” Brooks. Drawing from London’s rich heritage, the collection – which is set to be released across two drops – uses Brooksy’s personal adidas collection and his life in the capital as a source of inspiration.
The SS19 range features a host of iconic adidas staples, reinterpreted for the modern city dweller. Alongside a line-up of jackets, tees, hoodies and even some retro-inspired football jerseys, as always trainers play a huge role in the latest Spezial drop.
The first trainer drop of SS19 features the SL80 (A) SPZL (designed in a new Orange colourway), as well as two new iterations of the Whalley SPZL, a Norfu SPZL model, and an AS 520 SPZL. The ZX530 SPZL also features and is inspired by a personal favourite trainer from Brooksy’s own collection.
On the apparel side of things, the bright Orange theme continues with the Wardour military jacket, while bright tones are continued with the clear Blue Gilbraith overshirt. Other highlights include the Banktop overhead hooded top and the Anton parka, while the standout is undoubtedly the Lymwood jersey, a football-inspired long-sleeve top featuring a sublimated mod trefoil repeater pattern in the fabric.
The first instalment of the adidas Spezial SS19 collection is to launch over at the adidas Website on Friday 8th March. Take a look at the collection below.
To kick off their 70th anniversary celebrations, earlier this year adidas released a new itineration of one of the game’s most iconic football boots. Take a look at the COPA70.
