The Primeknit incarnation of the iconic adidas Stan Smith is back after its premier last year. This year adidas has introduced a perfect lightweight option for the summer with the Stan Smith Primeknit Reflective.
The Stan Smith was the pro-level tennis sneaker of the 70s. You’d be forgiven for thinking the Primeknit Reflective looked pretty much the same as last year’s Stan Primeknit. And while not too much has changed, the Reflective has one key feature – it comes equipped with a reflective stitching which acts as a simple yet highly effective safety feature.
The reflective Silver yarn is utilised on the heel tab, adding some contrast to the predominantly White or Black uppers. The reflective touches can also be found the on tongue, whilst the rest of the detailing remains tonal to the upper.
Both the Black and White colourways possess the same clean off-White sole that gives this updated silhouette the Stan Smith feel we’ve come to know and love. Of course, no Stan Smith would be complete without the signature tongue label, which is still present, as well as the Primeknit identity badge which can be seen in reflective ink.
We’ve always adored the Stan Smith and the Primieknit does bring something new to the table with a clean aesthetics and a light and breathable feel. But while the aesthetics still look great, if you already own a pair last year’s silhouette, we’re not sure you need to get your hands on these.
