adidas x Barbour
Leading lifestyle and heritage brand Barbour has collaborated with sportswear icons adidas Originals to create a Limited Edition collection of jackets and footwear for AW2014.
The collection is extensive and offers a diverse choice of designs and feels that combines traditional adidas sportswear functionality with Barbour’s country heritage ethos. On paper it might not seem like a natural fit – unlike Barbour’s work with Land Rover, for example – but the proof is there for all to see and this is one of favourite collections this year to date.
The collection takes 3 stories to reflect the traditions of both brands. Each story features footwear and a jacket designed to be warn together or stand alone.
The Spectator story is our pick of the collection and celebrates the long association adidas has had with sport. Spectator combines retro footwear spotted on the field with protective outerwear worn on the side lines to create two wax jackets and trainers that perfectly merge both brands DNA. This is perfect for football fans especially who take their fashion seriously.
The Country story stems from Barbour’s synonymity with the British countryside. Celebrating this heritage, Barbour gives the iconic Beaufort wax jacket a contemporary makeover. The Adiwick jacket in a robust 8oz beeswax, retains the classic Barbour Beaufort features of large bellows pockets, studded detachable hood and rear zipped pocket. To complement the jacket, the adidas classic outdoor shoes TS Runners – Barbour have then redesigned them to feature a waxed cotton tongue and beautifully aged tan upper leather.
The Military story is inspired by a customised jacket that Barbour created for a captain in the British army at the time of the Falklands War in the 1980s. The Baradi jacket is multi-pocketed, full of detail and has a printed camo lining made up of sections of the accompanying GSG9 – Barbour boot.
Daniel Bauer, Director adidas Originals Statement said, “The collaboration with Barbour is a truly inspiring and exciting partnership. Both brands share a rich heritage, long history and dedication to deliver premium products which was driving both teams through the creation process. We are privileged being able to work with Barbour and are proud of the collection.”
The adidas x Babour collection will be available on the 8th November 2014 and we can’t wait.
