After 24 years, the original Asics Gel-Respector will be making it long awaited return and we couldn’t be more excited!
Originally released in 1991, the Gel-Respector, made its debut following the success of the Gel-Lyte III. This running shoe featured a moulded E.V.A. midsole consisting of two components for extra mid foot support, a modern GEL silhouette and a commercial tongue – to avoid any comparisons with its predecessor.
Staying true to the original, the latest Gel-Respector will be released in its original and flawless colourway of Aster Purple and Black, with an off-white mesh base overlaid by darker shades of Grey creating a neutral background for the dash of Aster Purple mesh on the side panels.
More contrast is provided by the Black formstripes with Yellow detailing. The classic Purple can also be seen on detailing on the logos, top lace eyelet and at the top of the midsole.
You’ll obviously get to wear the iconic Asics waves, which are two different rubber densities inspired by sea – a subtle nod to the city of Kobe in Japan, the brand’s home and a major port. There’s also TPU heel stabilizer that gives runners extra stability.
The Asics Gel-Respector in Aster Purple and Black will be released from the 19th June this month at selected Asics Family and Friends retailers in Europe, with a pair setting you back around a premium £120. Not cheap but nobody said icons were!
