While we think they are by far the most practical solution when it comes to carrying luggage, it can often be a real struggle to find a backpack that’s not either too casual, too technical, or too extravagant for modern professional Joes. With their newest Collection 3, Carl Friedrik (formerly Oppermann) is offering a new solution.

Carl Friedrik Bag Collection 3

The Carl Friedrik Collection 3 features four new bags and combines the refined craftsmanship from the brand’s leather goods, with a new functional dimension inspired by elements from performance accessories. Consisting of two backpacks (C3-1 and C3-2), one briefcase (C3-3) and a holdall bag (C3-4), the collection is designed for urban commuters and frequent travellers.

All four bags in the collection are made from an Italian nylon canvas made with recycled fibres. The heavy canvas fabric is often used for protective wear and industrial applications, but together with Carl Friedrik’s smooth Vachetta leather, we think it creates an understated yet elegant solution.

Carl Friedrik Collection 3-2

Our favourite in the collection is the C3–4 Holdall. The travel holdall is the perfect weekend carrier with an upright construction, a large volume and a lightweight design. A long zipper opening allows for easy packing and unpacking, while two external zip pockets are handy for those frequently used items.

The C3–2 Backpack is also perfect for the daily commute. Slim, lightweight and practical, this everyday backpack comes with wide, all-leather shoulder straps for comfort. There’s one main compartment with a large opening thanks to the long zipper, and inside the backpack features a zip pocket, two smaller fabric pockets and two pen holders.

The Carl Freidrik Collection 3 Collection is available to pre-order over at the Carl Friedrik Website where prices start at £265 for the C3-2 Backpack and rise to £295 for the C3-4 Holdall and the C3-1 Backpack. Deliveries are expected in July.
