Converse x Carhartt WIP Chuck ’70 Collection
Two streetwear kings Converse and Carhartt WIP have teamed up for the first time ever, with the latter offering up their workwear aesthetic to a trio of classic Converse Chuck ‘70 trainers, incorporating some of their most recognisable colourways and fabrics to carry over the Carhartt signature look.
The Converse x Carhartt WIP Chuck ’70 Collection features a re-imagination of three Chuck Taylor All Star ‘70 Ox sneakers. With both brands sporting a rich history and a shared legacy in timeless classics, Converse and Carhartt WIP collectively look to the future with this inaugural collection, with each trainer from the project baring a signature from each brand.
The collaboration sees Carhartt WIP’s utilitarian fabrics — namely Tiger Camo Ripstop, White Drill and Hamilton Duck Canvas — applied to the iconic Converse silhouette. Subtle detailing on each sneaker gives a nod to the no-frills workwear upon which Carhartt WIP has built its reputation. These include triple stitching on the eye row and heel counter, red bar-tack style accents on the outsole and two sets of premium cotton woven laces.
In that spirit, the collection is fronted by A$AP NAST, a prominent member of New York’s ever-influential A$AP Mob. He’s also backed-up by London-based producer Sega Bodega, DJ Emerald Rose and 616-Crew member Jim Longden, for the Converse x Carhartt WIP Chuck ’70 collection brand images.
The Converse x Carhartt WIP Chuck ’70 collection launches this Thursday 1st June select Converse and Carhartt WIP retail stores, the Converse Website and the Carhartt WIP Website. All pairs of shoes will be priced at the £75 mark.
