Vans Honour David Bowie with Capsule Trainer Collection

Undoubtedly one of, if not the, most influential musician of all time, David Bowie’s legacy is the inspirations behind the latest capsule collection from Vans. The David Bowie x Vans Collection will see four of Vans’ most iconic silhouettes referencing some of Bowie’s most iconic records.

Relishing in Bowie’s most notorious works – namely Hunky Dory, Space Oddity, Aladdin Sane, and Diamond Dogs – Vans has immortalised the artist’s legendary impact in the form of four trainers; the Slip-On 47 V DX, Era, Old Skool, and Sk8-Hi.

The first in the capsule collection is a Slip-On 47 V DX which pays homage to 1971’s Hunky Dory. The upper fuses a vibrant yellow suede with a checkerboard faux fur pattern, very much in-keeping with the era. The trainer is finished off with the album’s title emblazoned on the sole.

The Vans Era’s makeover sees it reference Bowie’s second studio album, 1969’s ‘Space Oddity’. The trainer features an all-over print reminiscent of the album’s cover, finishing it off with “Space” marked on the lateral portion of the Sole.

The Old Skool and Sk8-Hi models feature an ode to Bowie’s alternate persona ‘Ziggy Stardust’. The Old Skool Aladdin Sane sees Vans utilising Bowie’s signature lightning bolt print, while the Diamond Dogs Sk8-Hi comes in a black and white check pattern with Bowie’s lightning bolt logo stitched into the side.

No stranger to collaborations, last year Vans dropped releases with the Vincent Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, as well as NASA.
