Eastpak ‘Japanese Selvedge Denim’ Backpack
Eastpak’s signature Padded Pak’r is undoubtedly one of the most iconic backpacks on the planet and you can’t really walk around town without seeing a least one. Well, the latest itineration of the modern classic has taken Eastpak aptly east having teamed up with Japanese textiles manufacturer Kuroki Company for a limited edition collaboration using Japanese selvedge denim.
In collaboration with Kuroki Company, the new Eastpak ‘Japanese Denim’ Padded Pak’r comes in premium Japanese selvedge denim. Based in Okayama, Japan, the Kuroki Company is one of the biggest denim manufacturers in one of the most important areas of denim production in the world.
If you’re not aware of the significance of ‘selvedge’, the name derives from the process of making the leg section of jeans. It’s finished off with a clean white seam to contain the edge of the weave and prevent it from unravelling. Identified by its trademark red stitching, this denim is famed for its endurance and strong aversion to frays and tears.
The white edged detailing you find on a pair of quality jeans has been carried over into the Eastpak ‘Japanese Denim’ Padded Pak’r, with each bag using authentic, high quality selvedge denim in the construction. The Japanese theme continues inside of each backpack too with a Koi fish print featuring across the lining and laptop sleeve.
Finishing things off are details such as a leather brand patch on the front pocket, complete with the same sort of rivet you’d find on a pair of jeans. Perfect for everyday use the Padded Pak’r is simple, unfussy and imitated by many.
Available in Indigo or Bleach Wash the Eastpak ‘Japanese Denim’ Padded Pak’r is available on the Eastpak Website now for £115.
