Vans Team with Finisterre for Most Sustainable Shoe Collection Ever
Fresh from releasing their Autumn 19 lookbook, Cornwall coastal-ready label Finisterre have just unveiled their latest collaboration with Vans. Building on a partnership first formed in 2017, the latest collection is Vans’ most sustainable footwear range ever.
It’s not hard to see where the Vans + Finisterre footwear collection originated. Both brands have a reputation for the adventurous, and the latest collaboration sees Vans offer up their timeless designs while Finisterre shares its long-standing eco credentials and commitment to protecting the sea. The result is Vans’ most environmentally conscious range to date.
The footwear collaboration sees three popular Vans silhouettes transformed with functional durability, and weatherproofing. Eco components such as organic cotton, fully recycled backings, and PU coated vegan leathers can be found across each of the three styles. Meanwhile details such as laces, webbing, and signature tabs have been made with recycled plastic bottles wherever possible.
Based on an original hiking boot but with some modern twists, the UltraRange Hi DL is the standout in the collection. Light but tough and designed to tackle any terrain in your pursuit of uncrowded waves, the boot is water resistant and made from an eco-synthetic leather, with recycled polyester ripstop and laces.
A new style from Vans, the Destruct brings their timeless aesthetic to a truly adventure-ready shoe with innovative features like the inverted waffle, while the pre- and post-surf Slip-Er shoe is made with organic cotting and folds down at the back, making it easy to slip on with damp feet.
The Vans + Finisterre footwear collection is on sale now over at the Finisterre Website where prices start at £60 for the Slip-Er and rise to £110 for the UltraRange Hi DL.
Continuing to embrace its near 100 year hardwearing heritage, last month Dickies announced their Autumn/Winter 2019 range, designed with the cooler seasons in mind.
