Footpatrol x Asics Tiger Gel Lyte III Squad

We love a collaboration here at Average Joes and one of our favourites this year is the Footpatrol x Asics Tiger Gel Lyte III Squad, which takes inspiration from the London-based retailer’s iconic gas mask logo.

While the gas mask might be a symbol of conflict and fear for many Brits during World War II, it should probably also be considered a symbol the unity and stiff upper lip that was demonstrated by our forefathers in the early 40s. Along with the logo, these idea have helped inspired the Squad concept and unmistakably military colourway.

The predominantly Olive upper dons Gold and Black accents throughout and act as a homage to the colours of a gas mask. Perforated pigskin covers the base, with matching pigskin overlays, whilst nappy suede covers the tongue.

Contrast comes in the form of the iconic Black suede Asics formstripes and reflective Gold detailing on the medial side formstripes. The Gold details continue on the Gel Lyte III branding on the left side of each heel, Footpatrol on the right side and FP and Gel logos on the heel.

There’s also a lighter Olive colour leather lining, with custom Squad label on the underside of the tongue and rare hints of Red are found on the Asics logo on the heel. Customisation is also key with the Squads as you’ll get a choice of two insoles and a selection of laces – one of which rather awesomely spells out ‘Footpatrol Gel Lyte III’ Morse Code.

We love the Footpatrol x Asics Tiger Gel Lyte III Squads and love the product imagery even more! They’ll be released this Saturday 29th August and will be available the Footpatrol Website for £120.
