Garmin Want You to Swap Your Rolex for Their New Marq

Garmin has just announced a new collection of connected, luxury smartwatches inspired by and engineering for fans of flying, racing, sailing, exploring and fitness. Alongside traditional watch manufacturing techniques, each of the five watches in the Marq Collection is equipped with an array of smart features.

The Garmin Marq collection is comprised of the Marq Aviator, Marq Driver, Marq Captain, Marq Expedition and Marq Athlete, with each watch built from lightweight titanium and encased in a doomed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal display – a clear sign Garmin are looking to enter the luxury watch market, or even create a sport-luxe market of their own.

Garmin Marq Aviator

The Marq Aviator is a classic GMT-style watch with a polished black ceramic 24 hour-bezel and an aviation-inspired multi-link titanium bracelet. The GMT bezel gives pilots quick access to multiple timezones, a worldwide airport database and a Nexrad Weather Radar, as well as Garmin cockpit integration.

Garmin Marq Expedition

Created with the modern explorer in mind, the Marq Expedition features a 360° compass bezel, analogue style barometric scales and a vegetable tanned, Italian vacchetta leather strap with waxed stitching. Features-wise, it comes with TOPO mapping, a built-in altimeter, barometer and compass, and tracking.

Garmin Marq Captain

The sailing-inspired Captain features a deep blue ceramic regatta timer bezel and three-tone blue nylon strap tightly woven for exceptional performance in salt water. The Captain is a great help on deck too with innovative sailing features such as a virtual starting line and tack assist. The watch face also shows current wind speed, temperature and tide information.

Garmin Marq Driver

Pre-loaded with over 250 famous race tracks around the world, the Driver is built for car enthusiast. The red and carbon grey racing theme is reflected in each detail of the watch, while its racing features are ideal for the track. Alongside automated lap timing, it can automatically calculate average speed.

Garmin Marq Athlete

The Marq Athlete is Garmin’s most performance-based offering. As well as featuring the likes of V02 max monitors, it also includes advanced running dynamics to further track workout stats, measure progress and fine-tune form.

While each model has its own character, all of them feature a ‘sunlight-readable’ display, GPS and advanced sensors like wrist-based heart rate and pulse oxygen monitors. They also have built-in music storage, Garmin Pay and advanced activity tracking. Battery life is impressive too and ranges from 12 days in smartwatch mode to 28 hours in GPS Mode and up to 48 hours in “UltraTrac” mode.

Prices for the Garmin Marq Collection start at £1,399.99 for the Athlete and rise to £2,249.99 for the Driver. Find out more info over at the Garmin Website.
