Karhu 100th Anniversary Synchron Classic OG
While there’s a strong possibility you haven’t heard of them, sportswear label Karhu are celebrating their 100th year of production in May 2016. To celebrate this centennial milestone, the Finnish brand have reintroduced the classic Synchron silhouette from their archives and we absolutely love it!
The Karhu Synchron was first released back in the early ’90s, with the updated classic runner featuring a dual-density construction that stays true to its original version, complete with original suede and synthetic materials and unique lacing system.
Karhu itself means ‘bear’ in Finnish, and the company have long been one of the leading running brands in Europe, providing technical running and outdoor gear for the masses, mainly in Scandinavia. With an authentic heritage in running and a deep connection to the outdoors, the Synchron follows the brand’s principles of design simplicity and running purity.
Featuring a compression moulded EVA midsole and a dual density construction, the Karhu Synchron Classic remains true to the original version. The upper materials, however, have been updated to an upgraded premium pigskin suede from synthetic overlays while the original mesh appearance remains true to the era.
To modernise the silhouette, Karhu makes the Air Cushion technology both visible and functional in the outsole. Most importantly, the unique Synchron lacing structure has been kept which served as a way to tighten the forefoot upon repeated use.
We love the Karhu 100th Anniversary Synchron Classic and think it’s a perfect blend of form and function – something we always look for in our trainers. You can get hold of a pair in either Classic Grey or in White/Authentic Blue from the Karhu Website, priced at £95.
