Karhu Albatross ‘Nordic Berries’ Trainers
If you haven’t come across Karhu, don’t worry – you’re not the only one. But believe it or not the Scandinavian sportswear brand, which means ‘bear’ in native Finland, has been around for almost 100 and will celebrate the feat next year.
Their latest release comes in the form of the Albatross Nordic Berries pack and we love the look of them! Originally released in 1982, the Albatross was one of Karhu’s most iconic Air Cusion shoes and has now been bought back for a modern reinvention.
At this time of Finland’s landscape fills with colour thanks in part to three native berries – the lingonberry, blueberry and sea buckthorn. The Karhu Albatross Nordic Berries pack sees a trio of colourways – Blue/Light Grey, Burgundy/Light Grey and Orange/Latte –take inspiration from Finland’s love of nature and specifically these wild berries.
The silhouette definitely has a hint of the 80s about it with the upper given a tonal style. The trainers come with a choice of bold Red, Blue or Orange, with the first two contrasted with contrasts of White on the logo, tongue and lining, while the Orange style sees coffee-stained accents instead.
Each of the three pairs are rounded off by White air-cushioned midsoles, for some welcomed contrast, and Black outsoles ensure these Karhu’s come with some practicality. Just to emphasise Karhu’s love of the Nordic Berry, each pair of the new Albatross comes with a custom-printed insole that features an all-over berry print.
We love the look of the Karhu Albatross Nordic Berries pack and think they offer a fresh take on a classic silhouette. You can get hold of a pair on the Karhu Website where the Albatross will set you back £60.
