KAWS and Uniqlo Team Up for 2nd Sesame Street Collection
Having launched a T-shirt capsule earlier this year, famed contemporary artist KAWS and Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo have once again teamed up for the second instalment of their Sesame Street collection, featuring hoodies, sweatshirts and tees, as well as five plush toys for good luck!
The second KAWS x Sesame Street x Uniqlo UT will soon be landing, with the celebrated redrawing Sesame Street’s Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Bert and Ernie in his own signature style. If you’re not familiar with KAWS (real name Brian Donnelly), the American artist and designer is currently one of the most popular contemporary artists on the planet.
Having worked with the likes of Nike, MTV and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), KAWS is famed for his large scale sculpture re-workings of familiar cartoon characters such as Micky Mouse and SpongeBob SquarePants.
Much of KAWS’ works are characterised by the use of ‘X’ marks instead of eyes, as showcased in the newest Uniqlo x Sesame Street collection. Graphics in the collection include a group shot of Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Bert, Ernie and KAWS’ most famous work, Companion.
The KAWS x Sesame Street x Uniqlo UT collection is set to hit Uniqlo stores and the Uniqlo Website on Monday 19th November.
