We’re always on the lookout for something different here at Average Joes, which is why Klokers watches caught our eye. What might appear to be a random scrambling of numbers on a face is actually a novel, attractive and easy watch to tell the time.
Klokers take inspiration all the way back from the 17th century and the slide rule, a mathematical design which lasted well into the 1970s before being seemingly completely forgotten. Before the advent of cheap pocket calculators, slide rules were the fastest method for working out complex calculations.
Klokers watches pay homage to this iconic instrument with the brand’s first watch, the KLOK-01, featuring three rotating disks displaying time along a vertical line. It sounds complicated but it’s actually incredibly simple!
The rings on the KLOK-01 display – one each for hours, minutes, and seconds – rotate at different speeds, making the whole dial a symphony of motion. In case your eyes aren’t what they once were, an integrated magnifying lens in the crystal comes as a standard to ensure you catch the time at a relatively quick glance.
The Kloker KLOK-01 comes in a 44 mm case and is fabricated from a modern composite of stainless steel and polymers for maximum strength and comfort.
Klokers watches come with a patented interchangeable bracelet system. Watches can easily, and securely, clip on and off, allowing for the ultimate in customisation experience for Joes. The KLOK-01 also works just as well as a humble pocket watch.
We like what Klokers are about and will always recommend anything that looks as stylish and innovative as this. We reckon the KLOK-01 would suit any Joe who wants something a little different on his wrist and will surely capture the imagination of any Joe who is into his numbers.
The Klokers KLOK-01 is priced at around £250 ($389) and will be officially be launched on the crowd-funding site Kickstarter at some point this month, where Joes can get a numbered launch edition 40% off the original price at around £130 ($199). The KLOK-01 will come in Yellow, Grey and Indigo, and will be restricted to 200 pieces each model. Check out the Klokers Website for more details.
