Showerproof Champions 2019: Men’s Spring Umbrellas
Spring is officially just one month away now and with a bit of luck we can start losing those layers and winter jackets. But while things should start warming up, we’re not nearly as optimistic about the clouds. That means an umbrella is essential weapon. With that in mind, here are our favourite showerproof umbrella champions for 2019!
Barbour Tartan Telescopic Umbrella
Website: John Lewis
If you’re after something strong, solid and stylish without the fuss, look no further than this Barbour made Tartan Telescopic Umbrella. Adding a touch of Barbour heritage when you’re caught in a downpour with some tartan, this showerproof champion is crafted with an engraved wooden handle and telescopic mechanism for some easy handling. It is available in a brighter Blue colourway, but we prefer the Navy.
Fulton Fairway-2 Golfer Multi-Panel Umbrella
Website: Fulton Umbrellas
Fulton have long been one of the go-to umbrella brands for men and that won’t be changing anytime soon. They’re range is extensive and affordable, and they’re so reliable they even supply the Queen with her brollies. If it’s good enough for Her Majesty… But while you could go for something simple, we do think accessories are one of the few ways Joes can really show some colour without unnecessarily turning heads down the street. So if you’re looking to add a little more vibrancy to your look, we love this Fairway-2 Golfer which features a strengthened double rib steel frame, large 125cm canopy and genuine wood handle.
Pasotti Bruce Stripe Umbrella
If you’re looking to go really all out with your umbrella this year, who are we to tell you any different? And it’s hard to deny this brolly by Italian designer Pasotti doesn’t just ooze class and sophistication. Featuring a woven navy canopy with red and white stripes, it’s made from the finest Italian polyester and comes with a stunning one-piece Chestnut handle and shaft. This classic umbrella has a manual opening metal frame and a tie band with popper fastener, and comes engraved Pasotti name-plate on the handle. And for the price, so it should.
Topman Black Umbrella
On the other end of the scale, if it’s cheap and simple you’re after, this basic Black Umbrella from Topman will do the trick. Doing exactly what it says on the tin, it comes with a black canopy and curved wooden handle for easy carrying. It’s stylish and at that price, who cares if you leave it down the pub?
Falcone Golf Clouds Umbrella
For something playful, this Falcone golf umbrella will have you seeing Blue skies in no time. Literally. The Black double canopy umbrella features a printed clouds pattern underneath its roof that’s sure to brighten even the drabbest of days. It features an automatic open mechanism and a Black rubberised crook handle, as well as lightweight fibreglass shaft and ribs that ensure strength and stability in strong winds.
Website: Snow and Rock
If you’re on the lookout for an urban technical master, look no further than Blunt. Their 2nd generation high performance Classic is a full sized stick umbrella, perfect for those needing good coverage, coupled with performance and style. It’s aerodynamic, collapsible and strong thanks the 5mm fibreglass ribs, it can take winds of up to 72mph.
London Undercover Navy and Yellow Double CG Umbrella
Website: London Undercover
It’s not the first time we’ve featured a London Undercover umbrella at Average Joes and we doubt it’ll be the last. They may not be the cheapest but you get what you pay for with quality builds and some of the best designs around. This year, we love this Double CG Umbrella with contrasting yellow and navy canopy. This premium wet weather warrior comes with a traditional Malacca Wood handle, Beech Wood shaft, and a Silver tip cup and spokes. Handmade in London, it’s our favourite of the season.
