Nike Drop Their Latest Flyknit with the Air Zoom Mariah Racer
Nike are set to launch a new runner this week, and we think it’s a beauty. Combining the aesthetic of the innovative Flyknit Racer with the DNA of Nike’s classic Air Mariah, feast your eyes on the Nike Air Zoom Mariah Racer Flyknit.
Shown here in the debut Hyper Crimson colourway, the Mariah Racer Flyknit is the latest Nike trainer from the back-catalogue to receive a Flyknit makeover. Since its inception in 2012, Flyknit’s woven fibres have been applied to various icons, most notably on the Air Max 1 and the Air Force 1. But retro runners have almost been forgotten. That is until now.
The latest Flyknit release draws inspiration from the early 80s – 1981 to be exact when the lightweight runner was first released. The new Zoom Mariah Racer Flyknit takes the streamlined profile from the original silhouette and updates it with a full Flyknit upper and an additional heel counter for extra support in the rear.
The Mariah Racer also features a split section on the midsole, which is sure to be a nod to the 1988 rendition under the same name. Formed from a lightweight composite to keep weight down, the Zoom Air sole adds some much needed cushioning for all day comfort. Finally, there’s also a quick lace system which helps enables the wearer to easily slip the trainer on and off.
The Nike Air Zoom Mariah Racer Flyknit is set to drop this Thursday 22nd June over at the Nike Website as well as various other retailers. You can bag yourself a pair for £130.
