Nike Are Releasing a ‘Friends’ Themed Pair of Trainers
With repeats on hourly, let alone daily, it’s easy to forget that we haven’t been treated to a new episode of Friends for almost 15 years now. But its legacy lives on and it’s still attracting new fans today. Which is why Nike are set to drop a version of their Kyrie 5 silhouette, dedicated to the show.
Yes, Nike has just released the first official images for their Friends-inspired Kyrie 5 colourway. Set to be released at some point this year, we have an NBA basketball player to thank for the release. Kyrie Irving is a six-time NBA All-Star who plays for the Boston Celtics and is famed for his obsession with the sitcom – so much so, he has its logo tattooed on his arm.
Being the star player he is, he received his own signature Nike trainer-line in 2014. Now on his fifth version, the ‘Friends’ Kyrie 5 features a lacing system with teal, yellow and orange studs, while red-speckled laces thread through the venus flytrap-inspired overlay.
A white outsole with multi-coloured accents contrasts the black and orange midsole, while a white Swoosh motif can be found on the side and Kyrie Irving’s logo and signature are also found on the upper. An official Friends tag is found on the upper, while a logo can also be found on the insole.
There isn’t much information about the “Friends” Nike Kyrie 5 as of yet but expect Nike to reveal release dates and prices over the coming months.
