Nike Mayfly Woven
Following the launch of the Mayfly OG a month or so ago, Nike are on the verge of presenting the suitably summery Mayfly Woven – perfect holidays abroad and the (fingers crossed) upcoming warmer months here in good old Blighty.
Using the same iconic concept and design that’s seen on the standard Mayfly, the Mayfly Woven sees the silhouette given a woven premium suede upper alongside its leather insole.
The original Nike Mayfly dates back to 2003 when it was designed and manufacturer purely as a race day trainer. The aim of the trainer was to give just 100km of high intensity running performance on the tarmac before it could literally be chucked away.
The reason is was dubbed the Mayfly was because its counterpart, an aquatic insect, has a lifespan of essentially 24 hours in which it’s born, breeds and then dies having served its purpose.
While we weren’t initially sold on the Mayfly Woven, it’s grown on us over the last couple of years and we think it would be a great addition to any summer wardrobe. It’s functional, stylish and a great alternative to some drab flip-flops or sandals.
Not many details have been announced about the Nike Mayfly Woven as of yet but we know they’ll be dropping within the next couple of weeks, where you can get a pair in colourway options of Grey, Black, Pink, Tan or Aqua Blue. A pair will set you back around the £100 mark. We’ll confirm release dates when we know them!
