The Constellation range from Omega is often overlooked by watch fans. The Seamaster was worn by James Bond and the Speedmaster went to the moon. The Constellation doesn’t have a rockstar CV like its other stablemates but it does boast a long and rich history and the latest Constellation Gents’ Collection might just be the ultimate Omega dress watch.
The new 41mm watch is both understated and flashy all at the same time. It’s bold yet sophisticated. Picture the scene – You’re at the ambassador’s dinner party and a lady in a red dress asks for the time. You extend your arm and pull back the sleeve of your blue velvet dinner jacket. A Seamaster or Speedmaster just wouldn’t do in this situation. This is where the Constellation shines. It’s endlessly sophisticated.
The design features many of the traditional Constellation trademarks such as the iconic claws, and the half-moon facets at either end of the case. You can opt for models in stainless steel, 18K gold, or a combination of both. The bezels have been crafted in polished ceramic – replicating the look of the original Constellation Manhattan of 1982, which used shiny sapphire glass.
The design is very much in line with Constellations of the past but this latest version has a more masculine feel. Those traditional trademarks of the Constellation are all slightly enlarged to make it familiar and somehow totally new at the same time. A special watch for special occasions.
The Gents’ Collection is available in three offerings. A steel case in grey or two gold options (one black, one blue). They will available form September and starts from £5,220.
