O’Neill Launch World’s First Denim Boardshort for the SS18 Swimwear Collection
Californian lifestyle brand O’Neill have just launched their swimwear collection for spring/summer 2018. And as well as featuring a range of board short with fabric containing Bionic yarn made from recycled plastics collected out of the ocean, they’ve also unveiled the world’s first Denim Boardshort in collaboration with ISKO.
Taking cues from 50s surfing, the Denim Boardshort is part of O’Neill Hybrid range, an innovative new swimwear concept bridging the gap between land and sea. Denim may not be the most obvious material for sea-faring garments, but there is plenty of development behind the new concept.
Thanks to the expertise of denim professionals ISKO, the Denim Boardshort is made with fast-drying, lightweight, 4-way stretch and patented Blue Skin denim fabric. The result is a short which delivers unrestricted mobility and maintains its shape no matter how hard it has been ridden.
The short’s denim is 50% lighter than traditional jean fabric and is water repellent thanks to the O’Neill Hyperdry treatment applied to the material in production. The treated fabric remains soft and breathable both in and out of the water, with a durability that can withstand surf after surf.
Another highlight in the O’Neill SS18 collection is the Hyperfreak Hydro Boardshort. The most technical Hyperfreak in the collection, it benefits from super lightweight, 170% 4-way-stretch fabric, a Hyperflow thermo-regulating waistband, ultrasonic welded seams to prevent rubbing, a silicone drawcord that locks into place, antimicrobial fabric to eliminate odour-causing bacteria, and a durable water repellent coating.
The O’Neill Denim Boardshort and the rest of the SS18 swimwear collection is available now over at the O’Neill Website.
