American clothing retailer, J. Crew, has teamed up with two footwear legends in Packer and Asics Tiger to reinvent the iconic Asics Tiger Gel-Lyte III running shoe. Named the 1907 Collection, it might be our favourite footwear collaboration of the year so far!

Packer x J.Crew x Asics Tiger 1907 Collection

In 2015 Packer and Asics Tiger collaboration to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Asics Tiger GEL-Lyte III with Packer designing the dirty buck, a new version inspired by a classic men’s dress-shoe style. The 1907 Collection, created with J.Crew, expands on that idea with four colourways featuring a triple-density soles, gel cushioning and a split tongue.

Founded by a pair of brothers in 1907, the original Packer Shoes store was a cornerstone of Yonkers, New York. For more than 90 years, this family-run shop supplied generations with dress shoes, work boots and sneakers.

With a triple-density sole, GEL cushioning and a split tongue, the Asics Tiger GEL-Lyte III running shoe was an instant classic when it was introduced in 1990. Inspired by some of the best-selling men’s dress shoes in the 110-year history of Packer, it’s that very heritage which can be seen in the old-school styling and technical design in the 1907 Collection.

Coming in four different colourways, our favourite in the J.Crew’s collection is the Navy Buck. An alternative to white or ‘dirty’ tan-coloured bucks, these beauties feature a classic blue suede and pale pink sole which can be paired up with some chinos or even a suit.

The 1907 Collection is also available in; Oxblood Leather, a rich burgundy cordovan leather itineration; Charcoal Suede, a style that debuted in the 1950s; and White Buck, a style originally worn for summer sports in the early 1930s and came to define mid-century clean-cut collegiate style.

The Packer x J.Crew x Asics Tiger 1907 Collection is set to drop this Saturday 30th September and will be available at J.Crew Website as well as in select J.Crew stores. Each pair will be priced around the £160 mark.
