Once a thriving industry, watchmaking production has recently declined in the UK. Paulin watchmakers aim is to bring the manufacture of affordable, high quality watches back to Britain.
After three years of designing and sourcing components from suppliers around the world, the first Paulin watches have now been assembled at their manufacturing unit in Glasgow. Here are some of our favourites from the collection…
Our first recommendation is the Paulin S75B in Brused/Tan. It uses a Japanese Miyotoa quartz movement and comes with a tan brown Italian calfskin leather strap. It has a 34mm, brushed stainless steel case, white face and a raised black index. It retails at £139 and would be perfect doubling-up for the work environment leading into a night on the town.
The C200 chronograph has three chronograph sub-dials and a date window at 4-o’clock, adjustments are made using the crown and pushers on the right. We’re a big fan of the Brushed/Black/Muti which comes with a black Italian calfskin leather strap, a brushed stainless steel case and multi-coloured dials.
It’s a bit more fun than the elegant and clean Red Gold/Blue which comes with a blue Italian calfskin leather strap and a rose gold case which is ideal for the sophisticated Joe. The Paulin C200 chronograph comes in at £195.
The C50A in Rose Gold/Blue is one of the first watches from Paulin and again uses the companies trademark Japanese Miyotoa quartz movement. It comes with a blue Italian calfskin leather strap and has a 28mm, PVD rose gold stainless steel case and domed mineral glass. This beauty is subtle and classy coming in at £120.
