One of our favourite outerwear brands Penfield are celebrating their 40th birthday this year. Having built a reputation for offering up some of the most stylish and functional apparel any outdoorsy Joe can wish for, we take a look at their upcoming Autumn/Winter 2015 menswear collection.
The latest collection from Penfield takes a look through at the history of the 40 years of the Massachusetts-based label with classic Penfield designs updated for the modern Joe through bold colourways that have made Penfield really stand out in the past.
Looking back to the very beginning of the brand, one of our favourites in the collection is the Bowerbridge jacket, which undoubtedly takes inspiration from the classic down jackets of the 70s. Featuring a lightweight Nylon shell, quilt-through down and classic patch pocket design, the Bowerbridge will keep you cosy and stylish on the rolling hills for £200.
Penfield has also looked further back taking inspiration from 60s military apparel with the Paxton jacket, which features a snorkel hood and faux fur lined hood to battle the elements. The Paxton comes in at £235.
But Penfield are still offering up some classics, just like the Hoosac hooded mountain parka, which was designed to withstand the harsh New England winters. Combining premium down insulation with a durable shell and functional details like a snow powder skirt and adjustable hood, the Hoosac ensures you’re fully protected against the great outdoors. The Hoosac comes in at £300.
But it’s not all about the jackets, as immaculate as they are. The Penfield AW15 collection also features some vintage-inspired graphic print tees, giving a nod to the 70s trekking culture of Massachusetts. New print designs have also been introduced to Penfield such as the playful duck print, which features across the collection from the jackets to sweats and tees.
There’s also a bunch of accessories in the collection to help you along your walks and commutes. Again taking inspiration from retro 70s hiking gear, the Kitchener and Vaughan backpacks use authentic cordura fabric famed for its durability.
