Penfield Spring/Summer 2017 Collection
If you’re a regular follower of Average Joes, you’ll know how much we love US label Penfield. Perfectly fusing function, style and durability, Penfield are now firmly established here in the UK and they’re back for their Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
‘For Life In The Open’ is the ethos Penfield have lived by since their inception in 1975. And for SS17, the American label have looked further into the meaning of the statement with three new collection stories – Open Road, Flashback and Neo-Active. Each category has its own unique silhouettes, graphics, and styles, while all still maintaining Penfield’s outerwear excellence.
The ‘Flashback’ collection is our favourite of the three new collection stories. Influenced by sportswear pieces from the 90s, the collection builds on Penfield’s growth in the inner city as well as its recent collaborations with the likes of Stussy, ALIFE, Maharishi and Saucony. The streetwear collection features bright block outerwear pieces including bold graphics and soft jerseys, such as the new Redlands crew sweater.
The ‘Neo-Active’ collection is a contemporary revival of the original Penfield Trail Wear line from the 70s. As such the collection is full of technical pieces which incorporate lightweight fabrics including 2-Layer Tech Nylon, Taped Seams, Ripstop and Reflective print detailing. The Storm Trail Jacket and Dixon Trail Backpack made with highly durable Cordura fabric are the real standouts.
But if you’re looking for some quintessential Penfield outerwear for the season, the ‘Open Road’ range is dedicated to Penfield’s classic aesthetic and 40 year history. Harking back to the brand’s New England foundations, the ‘Open Road’ collection features a natural colour spectrum, durable fabrics and core Penfield styles. All your classics feature here with the Vassan Parka and Gibson rain jacket, as always, the lead pieces.
