Ralph Lauren Announce Bear Watch Collection for 50th Anniversary
One of the world’s most famed labels, Ralph Lauren, turns 50 this year. And to celebrate, the brand are launching a Polo Bear watch collection which combines Swiss watchmaking with the brand’s iconic mascot, which will be hand-painted on the watches’ dials.
The Polo Bear Watch Collection from Ralph Lauren will come in four different models, each featuring a different bear inspired by the label’s signature dress sense: the Flag Bear will be wearing the namesake sweater that debuted on the 1989 runway; the Martini Bear will be wearing a three-piece suit while raising a glass; the Preppy Bear will be wearing classic Ivy League collegiate garb; and the Spectactor Bear will be wearing a mac, specs and USA sweater.
Alongside the hand-painted bears, each watch dial in the collection will also feature black numerals and the Polo Ralph Lauren logo in place of the number nine. Completing the aesthetic will be oxidised black Breguet-style hands and a stainless steel 42-millimeter x 10.4-millimeter round case.
The watches are set to be powered by caliber RL300-1 movement with mechanical self-winding chronometer that runs at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Customers can also personalise their watch with interchangeable straps made from various materials, including the likes necktie silk twill, French calfskin and alligator.
No official release date has been given yet but the Ralph Lauren Polo Bear watch collection will be available over at the Ralph Lauren Website, as well as in selected store worldwide. The watches will retail for $2,000 (around £1,500).
In other watch news, last month the heritage watch and jewellery house, Bucherer, has expanded its cult BLUE EDITIONS collection with a brand new motorsport-inspired timepiece in partnership with TAG Heuer.
