Spiewak Spring/Summer 2015
Taking inspiration from its strong military roots, American brand Spiewak has focused on the “primary needs of service men” for its Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
Founded in 1904, Spiewak started out making vests for Brooklyn dockworkers. But America’s entry into WW1 marked a change in direction for the company, and to this day they are known as the American military outfitter.
Usually mainly consisting of coats and jackets, the 110-year-old label has expanded its range this season to offer fleece tops, logo T-shirts and garment-dyed pieces, as well as their trademark jackets. All garments are aimed for modern day urban living, which is illustrated by cropped trousers which offer you versatile additions to any contemporary wardrobe.
The new range focuses on fresh colourways: Greens represent the military environment and shelter; Blues represent basics supplies such as water and food; Dusty Sands and Khaki represents information and communication; while Whites and soft Beiges express the health and medical side of military life.
Our favourites from the collection include the understated Spiewak Stencil Tee Off White which comes in at £32. But this is Spiewak – so naturally we’re drawn straight to the jackets. The Spiewak L2B Flight Jacket in New York Blue is a steal for £135.
Our standout is, however, is the Spiewak M43 Field Jacket in Field Green. Originally issued to the Airborne and Infantry during WW2, it has become the standard jacket for most soldiers. The M43 sets you back £375.
The Spiewak Spring/Summer 2015 collection is available now from at Present London.
