Spring Jackets

In the harsh British Winters, a strong and sturdy jacket is needed to keep you warm, and most importantly, dry. But we’ve often found that style can take a hit for practicality when it comes to Winter coats. So thank the Lord Spring is here!

The change in weather that Spring brings means hotter days but as we all know too well, the warmer months don’t necessarily mean drier seasons here in beautiful Britain. So it’s essential you’re prepared with a water-resistant jacket that lets you breathe.

Whether you’re going on a long walk in the country or drinking in the beer garden, Spring jackets also give you more styles to play with. So if you’re in need of a little inspiration, check out our favourite jackets from this season.

Shore Leave by Urban Outfitters Nylon Hooded Jacket

This jacket from Shore Leave by Urban Outfitters is built in a durable nylon fabric, providing protection from the elements with a contemporary edge. It’s 100% Nylon so will keep you nice and dry, and it’s also incredibly reasonably priced at £50 due to currently being in the sale. So you might want to get over to Urban Outfitters quickly!

Penfield Rochester

Our favourite from this season might well be the Penfield Rochester for £100. Penfield are one of our go-to outdoorwear providers and the Rochester is the stand-out from their Spring/Summer 2015 collection. It’s constructed from DWR Nylon Taslon, a fully breathable fabric that holds its shape, dries quickly and remove moistures from the body, working with the mesh lining to keep you cool. To adapt to all weathers, the Rochester features a zip-away hood, elasticated cuffs and adjustable hem cinch to create a neat fit and three pockets with contrasting easy-to-grip white rubberized buttons.

Wemoto Todd Wax Jacket

The Todd jacket from Wemoto is constructed from a water resistant cotton canvas shell and a full polyester lining. This jacket comes in a couple of colours but our favourite is definitely the Eggplant colourway. The Todd features a full zip fastening with a press stud overlay, two large external flap pockets with two hidden pockets behind them plus further internal pockets. This jacket is finished with a drawstring hood, adjustable sleeve cuffs, a woven brand patch to the left pocket flap, eyelets under the arms for breathability and tonal stitching is used throughout. It comes in at £100.

Mackintosh Laggan Cotton-Twill Rain Coat

Having been the creators of the first ever waterproof fabric, this iconic British brand has a wealth of experience crafting the finest protective wear. The Mackintosh Laggan is tailored for a comfortable fit that can be layered over jackets or blazers. It’s handmade at its base in Scotland from slick cotton twill. We love the Bright Royal Blue version which will combat Grey skies in style. Being Mackintosh, it’s naturally at the higher end of our price-range coming in at £525, but you really do get what you pay for.

Fjällräven High Coast Wind Jacket

The Fjällräven High Coast Wind Anorak in UN Blue is our favourite piece from their Spring/Summer 2015 collection. It has a fixed hood, thumb holes and kangaroo pocket that doubles as a pack bag. The light and packable anorak is made from a waxed polyamide and organic cotton fabric that is water resistant and dries fast should it get wet. Perfect for festival season. The High Coast Anorak comes in at around £120.

The North Face 1985 Seasonal Mountain Jacket

We all know The North Face knows how to make a jacket. This lightweight, packable 1985 Seasonal Mountain jacket in Yellow, is constructed using a durable and showerproof polyester fabric, and we love it. The jacket features a full zip fastening with a press stud overlay, two hidden zip pockets and tonal branding printed to the left chest and the right shoulder. It’s finished with an adjustable drawstring hood, elasticated sleeve cuffs and hem, articulated elbow seams, branded press studs and tonal stitching is used throughout. We can’t think of an occasion you won’t be using it… Apart from maybe a night on the town. And for £75, we think it’s a steal.

We hope that’s given you a little idea of what’s on offer this season with a colour option for all Joes. So stay dry, stay cool but always stay stylish!
