It seems like every watchmaker in the industry is getting involved in the smartwatch market and the latest to join the party are luxury Swiss manufacturers TAG Heuer. In partnership with tech giants, Intel and Google, TAG Heuer have just announced the Android-ran Connected smartwatch!
The TAG Heuer Connected Watch is a 46mm luxury smartwatch which is primarily a true chronograph. Made with a case, back and lugs, the face of the Connected watch is made from grade 2 titanium, a contemporary material ensuring the watch is lighter and more resistant to impacts than a traditional materials such as steel and gold.
Unlike most other smartwatches, the dial and the hands remain on the Connected while the ‘smart’ bits are niftily displayed inside the three counters on the chronograph dial at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock. The Connected is still touchscreen, so to interact with apps all Joes need to do is touch the counter in question and it’ll go full screen.
Coming with 4GB of memory, TAG Heuer say the Connected has an all-day battery life and comes with a small microphone so you can use Google voice control. The watch has also been made water resistant for everyday use and is IP67 water resistance rated.
The Connected connects to your smartphone where you can download a wide range of Android apps and as it’s made in partnership with Google, Google Fit, Google Translate, Google Maps and Google Search will already be installed.
Even if you don’t have your phone with you, the TAG Heuer will still be functional with music, a timer, an alarm and a step counter, and as long as you have a Wi-Fi connection it will remain connected to the cloud.
The TAG Heuer Connected comes with a Black rubber strap but there are also Red, Blue, White, Orange, Green and Yellow strap sold separately, to suit any Joe. Bringing together the best of both the luxury timepiece and modern smartwatch world, the Connected will set Joes back £1,100 from the TAG Heuer Website.
