Though they may be known for their technical outerwear for the mountains, in recent years The North Face has launched many a new lifestyle collection for the urban Joe. The latest centres around the relaunch of a mountain legend: the Fantasy Ridge Jacket.
Inspired by the original, pinnacle mountain GORE-TEX jacket of 1993, the Fantasy Ridge was a revolutionary in its day. As such, The North Face have built a whole new range which takes elements from the brand’s renowned expertise, and reimagines iconic designs for the city.
‘Fantasy Ridge’ was a nickname aptly given by British climber George Mallory to the Kangshung face of Mount Everest. The idea being that it was so dangerous to even attempt that it would be considered pure fantasy to even imagine reaching the summit. To this day, mountaineers call “the last great problem” as it still hasn’t been summited.
The Fantasy Ridge collection was designed and manufactured with this unattainable mountain peak in mind, with influences from the nineties original clear throughout. The standout in the drop is the jacket itself which comes with technical features throughout.
Other signature items in the collection include the 1990 Staff Fleece jacket, Staff Fleece Pant, Fine2 Tees and the original 1992 Nuptse Vest. Each item comes in a variety of colourways inspired by the decade in which the original was created.
The North Face Fantasy Ridge Lifestyle Collection is available now at TNF’s dedicated Urban Exploration Lifestyle stores in London and Berlin, as well as on The North Face Website.
In other style news, Danish label RAINS have unveiled a couple of camouflaged additions to their core range coming under the title of ‘Adapting’.
