Vans have just unveiled their first new collection for 2019. Inspired by 70s retro design, three of Vans’ Classic footwear models have been updated for the Patchwork Pack, with the Era, Sk8-Hi and Slip-On getting a multi-coloured makeover for Spring.
As the name suggests, the Vans Classics Patchwork Pack uses some of the skateboard brand’s most iconic shoes as a canvas. Vans designers have remastered the Era, Sk8-Hi and Classic Slip-On with a mix of leather, canvas and suede patches for a ‘70s-inspired assortment.
The multi-panel construction of the Vans Era lends itself to a range of material combinations for added depth with additional leather patch appliques positioned on the canvas and suede uppers. For a truly unique take on Vans’ original skate shoe, the left and right shoe are each constructed with different colour combinations.
The retro inspiration continues to the Vans Sk8-Hi, which features contrasting suede and canvas construction patches across the medial and lateral sides of each shoe, while the Classic Slip-On rounds off the trilogy with vibrant patches across each vamp and heel counter.
The Vans Classics Patchwork Pack is available now over at the Vans Website, as well as in Vans retail locations everywhere. Prices start at £65 for the Slip-On and rise to £90 for the Sk8-Hi. The Eras come in at £70.
Similarly retro, last week The North Face announced its latest lifestyle range. Named the ’92 RAGE Collection, the range is influenced by the rebellious nature of late 80s/early 90s snowboard culture and showcases vibrant colourways, bold patterns and unique trims.
