Vans have had quite the collaborative year. Having teamed up with Marvel for their biggest drop to date and with Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum for a capsule collection, they’ve just announced a time honoured collection of footwear and apparel that pays homage to six decades of space exploration and discovery with none other than NASA.
Inspired by some of NASA’s original space suits, the Vans Space Voyager footwear collection showcases cosmic tributes on Vans timeless silhouettes, including the Sk8-Hi, Old Skool and Classic Slip-On models. The collection features eight silhouettes in total, as well as some other apparel and accessory options.
On the footwear side of things, two Sk8-Hi 46 MTE DX styles feature full-grain leather uppers, exposed foam and the NASA Meatball Insignia on the quarter panels, while for the Old Skool styles, Vans have introduced an iconic orange colourway with a black NASA worm logotype and lacing details.
Alongside the footwear options, the Space Voyager capsule also offers up three jackets, including the Vans Space Anorak in black and orange and the Vans Space Torrey Padded MTE jacket in two colourways, complete with an Apollo 11 graphic detailing to honour man’s first journey on the moon.
Finishing off things is a Vans Space Pullover hoodie in black and a Vans Space Man long-sleeved tee in white, as well as a Grind Skate Duffel in space orange and a Snag Plus Backpack.
The Vans x NASA Space Voyager capsule collection is available now over at the Vans Website, as well as in stores.
NASA are no strangers to collaborations themselves having teamed up with IKEA earlier this year for the RUMTID Collection; a series of items designed especially for the need of ever shrinking small living spaces.
