Vans Vault X Takahashi Murakami Collection

Iconic skate brand Vans have teamed up with esteemed Japanese artist Takahashi Murakami for an eclectic range under Vans’ premium label, Vans Vault.
Celebrated for his vibrant paintings, as well as his immaculate sculptures and designs, Murakami presents his favourite Vans silhouette, the Classic Slip-On, in six adult unisex colourways.
Utilising two reoccurring motifs that define Murakami’s work, skulls and flowers, the illustrative work adorns the canvas uppers in a range of hues with complementary piping working with the characteristic fresh white midsole
The first half of the range showcases the smiling flower print in Blue, Multi-coloured and Silver line variations while the second half highlights Murakami’s skull motif in a darker Blue, Yellow and Gold line.
Murakami’s anime-influenced aesthetic is renowned for its incorporation of lively colours, shapes and imagery inspired by traditional Japanese art and pop culture. Now generally recognized as a “Superflat” form, a term he himself coined, his work is known for blurring the line between high and low arts.
As well as some kids apparel, the Vault by Vans x Takashi Murakami collection also features a limited-edition series of skateboards. The three prints of the boards are multi-coloured skull, multi-coloured smiling flowers and a Portrait of Takashi Murakami on blue.
The whole collection is set for released on the 27th June and will be available in selected stores. For more details check out the Vans Murakami Website.
