No strangers to collaborations, Vans have just announced their probably their most leftfield partnership to date with Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum. Yes, showcased alongside Vincent’s most famous paintings, the Van Gogh x Vans collection features trainers and clothing emblazoned with Van Gogh’s bright flowers and bold skulls.
Vans have had an incredible busy summer. Alongside its biggest Marvel collection to date, it also expanded its most progressive collection to date, the UltraRange, with the UltraRange AC and the UltraRange Gore and also dropped the size? exclusive multi-coloured Vans Style 36 ‘Patchwork’. But it’s arguably the Van Gogh Museum collaboration which is the most interesting.
The collection features everything from hoodies and tees, to trainers and caps in some of Vans’ most iconic styles. Highlights include a matching satin bomber, backpack and cap offered in digitally printed Almond Blossom art; and a black long-sleeved shirt and hoodie adorned with Van Gogh’s famed Skulls on the rear.
Other clothing highlights include a range of t-shirts which feature Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait and Sunflowers sitting alongside Vans’s signature checkerboard pattern. All pieces in the range are accented by “Vincent & Vans” detailing.
On the sneaker side of things, several iconic Vans models match the art on the clothes, including the classic Sk8-Hi and Authentic. There’s also an Old Skool and Slip-On offerings which features exclusive Old Vineyard and Letters prints, the latter of which was created by using text and illustrations from the 700 handwritten dispatches Van Gogh sent to his brother, Theo.
