Introducing Welly Merck Watches – Our Review
Standing out in a saturated watch market can be a tricky business. But when it comes to design, we’ve always stood by the moto; ‘less is more.’ And one brand that we think fits that billing is watchmaker Welly Merck.
Welly Merck watches hit the desired sweet spot between quality and style, while still keeping things relatively affordable. The supposed story behind Welly Merck is like no other brand we’ve come across either. When an American boy travelled to Italy, little did he know that he’d meet his future wife and business partner.
Merck was from a blue collar family who had a passion for Iron craft, and Welly was born into a traditional watch-making family. After various difficulties with the blessing of friends and relatives, they pair settled and married in Switzerland, and eventually created a watch brand to commemorate their love story – inspired by desire, conceived with passion, and born with quality.
Our favourite watch in the Welly Merck range is the Classic Bern in BBL. Sophisticated and elegant, this wristwatch comes with a 42mm Black stainless steel case and Black mesh 20mm strap – which is interchangeable if you wanted some leather or fabric instead. For some added interest, the watch comes with some distinctive Light Blue hands which we think really set the watch apart.
The watch itself is incredibly comfortable to wear and sits surprisingly thin on the wrist, adding to the comfort levels. Technical features on the Classic Bern include Ronda 762 movement and a sapphire crystal face which ensures the hardness and durability of the watch. Featuring a distinctive minimalistic design, we think it’s perfect for anyone heading from the office to the bar.
