We’d all love to get out into nature more, but busy work and family schedules often means the closest we get to hitting the wilderness is on our phones. So whether you’re planning your next big adventure or just need to see some scenery other than the cranes from your office window, check out our favourite nature photography accounts on Instagram.

7 Landscape Lovers You Need to Follow on Instagram

Chris Burkard (@chrisburkard)

With 2.9 million followers, the undisputed King of Instagram when it comes to landscape photography is undoubtedly Chris Burkard. The nature photographer works to capture stories ‘that inspire humans to consider their relationship with nature, while promoting the preservation of wild places everywhere.’ Scrolling through Burkard’s feed is like taking a mini-vacation in itself through some of the planet’s most incredible landscapes. He’s a keen surfer too – and even did a Ted talk called ‘The Joy of Surfing in Ice-Cold Water’ – so his amazing aquatic images are reason enough to start following.

Greenland at night can have moments of unreal joy mixed with hints of slight fear. After making it to the small island in total darkness a group of us stayed within yelling distance as the northern lights crept overhead. Without a headlamp the slippery frozen seaweed & rocks would have made you immobile. And although unlikely, the thought of polar bears seems to creep into your mind. I love straddling that line where comfort and discomfort meet. On our way back captain Siggi turned the lights on the @auroraarktika to illuminate our path. A literal nightlight for us. This was the moment I remember the most from my first trip to the east fjords.

Alex Strohl (@alexstrohl)

With a mix of beautiful scenery as well as intimate morning views from his tent, French photographer Alex Strohl’s Instagram feed plays out like one epic road movie. He’s based in Whitefish, Montana, but shoots all over the world from the Norwegian fjords to the plains of Patagonia with his life-partner Andrea Dabene, who is well worth a follow as well. Strohl’s photography has been featured in publications such as Forbes, Vanity Fair, and Gentleman’s Journal.

Since I first came to Iceland in 2011 I’ve wanted to see it in the winter.. Finally made it happen and its exceeding every scenario imagined. The days are short and the sun is so low that the light is the softest I’ve ever witnessed. It’s like being in a lucid dream..

New Zealand… processed with my 2018 workflow (link in Bio). In case people wonder why I haven't removed the holiday discounts on them yet… that's because I'm now on holiday ? (things are going great!) and i can't remove them from here. But will definitely do in a few days.

Following the path to paradise in The Maldives. ——- We had always wanted to visit this island paradise and when we were in Sri Lanka in 2016 we took advantage of how close it was and spent a week on 2 different resorts. The Maldives lived up to all of my expectations especially the @cinnamonhotels Hakuraa Huraa. This shot was what the sunsets were like every night! ——– Camera: Sony A7RII Lens: 16-35mm F4 F/11 125 seconds ——– #maldives #sonyalpha

Claire Droppert (@claireonline)

Another Dutch landscape photographer who needs to be followed in Claire Droppert. Focusing on the stillness and tranquillity of nature, Droppert has clear attraction to simplicity and minimalism with images of desolate and open spaces. The photography, however, is anything but desolate, with soft lighting playing an important role in her images. If travelling for you is all about cleansing and destressing, a quick scroll through Droppert’s photos is guaranteed to send you into the perfect daydream.

On my way to Melchsee-Frutt this morning, I was treated with the most amazing settings nature has to offer. You can see the colors of fall are slowly making their way. This definitely is my favorite time of year. ? @MySwitzerland #inLOVEwithSwitzerland #mylucerne #LakeLucerneRegion #melchseefrutt
