Airbnb’s Latest ‘Night At’ Heads to the Bahamas with Blue Planet II
Having offered guests the chance to stay everywhere from the LEGO House in Denmark to a stay at the Williams Martini F1 Racing Garage, Airbnb have now teamed up with BBC Worldwide for a trip of a lifetime on board the Alucia, a world-leading oceanic research and exploration vessel used in the filming of Blue Planet II, as part of their ‘Night At’ series.
Winners of the Airbnb ‘Night At’ Blue Planet II comp will join an active research trip in the Bahamas where they’ll make the ship their home for three days and two nights, and explore the mysteries of the ocean in one of the Alucia’s two submersibles.
The adventure will start with an introduction from your host, Orla Doherty, who has spent over 500 hours at depths up to 1,000 meters working with the Alucia. From there, you’ll meet the crew, sharing meals and observing and discussing their work.
As part of the trip, guests will also embark on a voyage of a lifetime as they dive deep beneath the waves aboard one of the two submersibles on the ship, the TRITON 3300/3 or the Deep Rover. Highly maneuverable and able to withstand hundreds of pounds of pressure, you’ll get 360 degree views of the ocean below Cape Eleuthera, one of the most biologically diverse areas of the Atlantic Ocean.
To enter the Airbnb ‘Night At’ Blue Planet II competition, you’ve got until the 10th February to head over to the Airbnb Website and submit your pitch to the following question: ‘You don’t need to be an astronaut to discover a new world. Our oceans are teeming with bizarre species and dramatic, alien-like landscapes. Tell us about your ideal deep sea adventure–what do you dream of exploring beneath the waves?’ Then just make sure you’re free between the 4th April 2018 and 8th April 2018!
