Buubble Hotel, Iceland – The 5 Million Star Hotel
If you’re anything like us, seeing the Northern Lights will be high on the list of your travelling ambitions. But we say if you’re going to do it, do it properly and do it in style. For most, that’ll mean heading to Iceland. And we reckon you might want to take a look at the Buuble Hotel, the 5 million star hotel!
Watching the aurora borealis dance is one of those lifelong dreams, but sleeping under the, all night long would be a whole different experience. Well, that’s what they’re offering at the awesome Buuble Hotel. Located a short drive from Reykjavik, the Buuble Hotel is a set of inflatable transparent ‘tents’ which give guests a clear view at the night’s sky.
The bubble structure is kept inflated by a noiseless ventilation system which permanently renews the air inside your abode 2-7 times the volume per hour. Not only does this ensure nothing collapses on you, it also prevents humidity. And to keep things warm in the harsh winters, the system has heating elements with a thermostat.
Each bubble has been fitted with a double bed and is plenty big enough for two adults. Located in a forest, amenities are scarce, but there’s a nearby shared service house with two toilets, showers and a self-service kitchen where you can grab free coffee if you need warming up.
Naturally, there’s no guarantee of some aurora activity, even in the height of winter. But Buuble can guarantee you’ll see the lights from your bed if they show up. And if they don’t show up, the stars, birds, butterflies and great midnight-sun scenery will keep you company.
Located 93km from the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik, the Buuble Hotel is priced at around £220 per tent per night. Head over to the Buuble Website for more details and don’t forget to check our Reykjavik City Guide!
