If you’re looking for a weekend away in the UK and are stuck for ideas, take a look at the stunning Chapel on the Hill – a former Methodist Chapel close to Middleton-in-Teesdale in County Durham. The epic conversion possesses incredible views across Upper Teesdale close to the Pennine Way and the breath-taking High Force Waterfall.
This holiday cottage has plenty to offer besides the views too with a large and fully equipped kitchen, a spacious and cosy living room, four comfortable bedrooms and three modern bathrooms meaning it can sleep up to seven Joes and Janes – perfect for a party getaway.
On the ground floor you’ll find the contemporary designed living room with a wood burning stove. Lancet windows have been kept from the old Chapel and they provide a perfect period contrast to the modern crisp White wash on the walls.
Also on the lower ground you’ll see the kitchen with a stunning dining area, one of the four bedrooms with a day bed – suitable for a single Joe or a couple – and a luxuriously designed bathroom with a roll top bath and shower. Two master bedrooms, each with en-suits, and a cosy single room can be found upstairs on the first floor.
The Chapel on the Hill has amazing views of Upper Teesdale, a declared area of outstanding natural beauty, so is perfect for Joes who like a walk and to take things at their own pace. The property is located in an isolated position however, which means you’ll need a car.
The Chapel is ideally located for exploring the beautiful Teesdale valley, with its abundance of amazing walks like the Pennine Way or natural landmarks, such as the High Force Waterfall which is within a 20 minute walk.
The Chapel on the Hill conversion is available to rent at the Airbnb Website where Joes will have to book a minimum of 3 nights stay, or 5 nights during the Christmas period, at £150 a night. Perfect for a weekend getaway if sunshine and mobile reception aren’t your priorities!
