Sleep with the Fishes at the Conrad Maldives Underwater Hotel Suite
Forget the boring old luxury water bungalows above sea-level, at the Conrad Maldives Resort on Rangali Island, it’s all about the Muraka underwater villa. The first of its kind, the two-level luxury residence features integrated living both above and below the crystal blue Indian Ocean.
Set to open in later in the year, the Muraka suite will put a new perspective on life at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. Nestled in a private area of the shimmering lagoon, the Muraka is a first-of-its-kind residence featuring fully integrated living, dining, entertaining and sleeping above and below the Indian Ocean with unobstructed views wherever you look.
The ‘Muraka’, which means ‘coral’ in the native language of Dhivehi, is housed in a glass dome sitting 16-feet below the Indian Ocean. Blue water surrounds the bedroom, living area, and bathroom, allowing you to gaze at the aquatic life as they swim by. Head to the surface and you can also catch the sunset from the additional living room, bedrooms, and your very own infinity pool.
The underwater theme continues throughout your stay at Conrad Maldives with Ithaa, the resort’s submerged restaurant located five meters below the surface of the ocean. The world’s first undersea restaurant comes with panoramic coral garden views and fusion menus matched with fine wines.
The Muraka suite at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is set to open in November this year but you can book a range of other villas and suites now over at the Conrad Maldives Website, where prices start at £429 a night.
Last year, Scandinavia design firm Snøhetta unveiled incredible concept plans for a restaurant set to open in Norway called ‘Under’, which will be Europe’s first ever underwater restaurant.
